On 30 January 1890 adventurer and journalist Elizabeth Bisland made history, circumnavigating the world in just 76 days. Her remarkable journey was recorded on a rare globe, now part of the Science Museum Group Collection.
Alexandra Rose is Curator of Earth Sciences. She has curated a number of exhibitions and galleries at the Science Museum, including James Lovelock: Scientist, Inventor, Maverick (2014), Atmosphere: Exploring Climate Science (2010), and most recently Science City 1550–1800 (2019). She is co-author of the book Science City: Craft, Commerce and Curiosity in London, 1550–1800 (Scala, 2019). She is also studying for a PhD on the history of seismology.
