Our museum group

One month on since the closure of our museums due to the coronavirus pandemic, Chief Executive Sir Ian Blatchford reflects on the challenges facing us all and how the Group has adapted to its new (although temporary) virtual reality.

As the National Railway Museum reveals a sustainable vision for its new Central Hall, Karen Livingstone, the Science Museum Group’s Director of Masterplan and Estate, explains how our plans are shaped by the past, present and – crucially – the future of five museums which together are visited by more than five million people each year.

We recently announced the temporary closure of our five museums in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Our Chair of Trustees and former chair of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Dame Mary Archer, reflects on this news.
